How to Make Youtube Compilation Video

I'll show you how to join YouTube videos together into a highlight reel, a Top 10 video, or a supercut without leaving your browser.

How to Make Youtube Compilation Video

A YouTube compilation is a montage video assembled from the best parts of other videos. Compilations can be of sports highlights, fail videos, Vines, or anything else. Each clip adds to the total of the compilation and makes sense with the other clips.

Check out this very short example compilation I made of Celebrity Autocomplete videos:

To make a YouTube compilation, you need to combine multiple YouTube clips into a single cohesive MP4. I recommend Kapwing's online YouTube editor for creating original compilations. In this article, I will show you how to create a Youtube compilation video from start to finish in 3 steps:

  1. Collect your clips
  2. Edit your compilation
  3. Export and download

Step 1: Collect your clips

Think about the theme of your compilation to find videos. Do you want it to just be interviews with a celebrity? Or also clips of their acting? Do you want your music video compilation to only have the chorus? Or connect through a specific visual?

You can use as many or as few as you like. To keep track of your videos you can keep their tabs open or write down a list of links.

Step 2: Edit your compilation

Get started by going to Kapwing.com in your browser and click Start Editing to enter the Kapwing Studio. Kapwing allows you to import videos directly from YouTube and trim down the section that you want to include in your compilation, so you don't need to download the YouTube videos ahead of time.

One by one, copy and paste the links directly into the "Paste a URL" box. You can also choose to upload a video or import a video from another social network, like Instagram, Twitter, or TikTok, to include in the compilation.

Once your clips are done uploading click Trim to trim them to the part you want in your compilation. Use the slider and play button at the bottom of the screen to preview what the final compilation will look like.

Kapwing also allows for other visual layout changes, like adding text watermarks, image overlays, and logos, as well as audio editing, transitions, and animations. Use the tools in the timeline at the bottom of the screen, the toolbar at the top, and the editing menu on the right to make any changes you need.

Step 3: Export and Download

When you feel like your compilation is done, click Export Video. Give Kapwing a few moments to process your video and click Download when it's ready.

If you're not signed into a Kapwing account, sign in or sign up using your Google or Facebook account – once you've signed into a Kapwing account, the watermark in the lower right corner will be removed from your final video.
